I found the perfect stawberry daiquiri! It was the perfect mix of Bacardi rum, fresh lime juice and freshly muddled strawberries – not the sickly sweet syrupy concoction you normally find!

We were recently invited to the launch of the New Worldly Classics Signature Cocktails menu at the luxurious InterContinental Towers and resort in Sandton. These cocktails have been developed in collaboration with renowned mixologist Nick Braun and have been paired with different canapés – perfect for after-work drinks and snacks in a posh setting.

We were treated to a variety of cocktails and delicious canapés: Martinis with lime and garlic marinated mussels, old fashioned with a deliciously spicy arabic lamb kofta, caipirinhas with smashed avocado and cornchips – the clear winner for me was the strawberry daiquiri that paired perfectly with the vegetable tempura and wasabi mayonnaise canapé!

For the sobertarians there is also a wide range of intriguing non-alcoholic cocktails like rosemary lemonade, chamomile and apple ice tea, honey apple julep and a citrus and mint smash!

Due to the rainy weather on the night we had our cocktails in the main lobby bar, however I would love to return for sundowners to enjoy them on the rooftop with a view of the Sandton skyline.
