Cafe Tavia is popular for their wide range of freshly baked Taiwanese breads with interesting savoury fillings like red beans, chicken curry and matcha. They also have pastries and croissants with custard and chocolate fillings to satisfy those of us with a serious sweet tooth!
We were invited to try out their recently introduced food menu and so we stopped by for a decadent weekend brunch.
Cafe Tavia, although a little sparsely decorated, is a bright, sunny space with the aromas of freshly made bread and coffee wafting through. We had a seat and looked over their wide menu – in addition to their breakfast menu they also have burgers, pizzas, pastas and gourmet sandwiches on offer. I really enjoyed my eggs benedict with salmon – the hollandaise sauce was decadently buttery, the egg was poached to perfection and went over well with the fresh smoked salmon.
The french toast was made with their brioche bread which had a rich texture that soaked up the batter without being soggy, and complemented well with lots of bacon and some golden syrup drizzled over. The bananas served with it were a tad too sweet for my taste, but it was still enjoyable.
In addition to the variety of food, they also have an extensive drinks menu that feature a range of coffees, red espresso, fresh juices and smoothies – we had a red latte and a delicious peanut butter & banana smoothie with our brunch.
And just when we thought we were done and our waistlines had expanded from all the food, we were presented with these awesome brioche buns filled with a homemade thick vanilla custard! I couldn’t resist, they are sinfully good!!
