This has got to be one of the best restaurants in Johannesburg serving fusion asian cuisine! This small and intimate restaurant is located at the Bamboo centre in Melville and has the added bonus of dedicated parking. I loved the minimalist decor and the casual feel of this eatery, it has a small outside area if you would like to enjoy your meal with a bit of a view.

Their menu is not extensive but very interesting – they have a selection of Asian tapas meals and mains (we had two of each) as well as drinks. Every one of the dishes was bursting with flavour and sooo delicious. For drinks we ordered a coconut water infused with lemon and some white wine (served in a stemless wine glasses).

We started off with a hot smoked trout fillet, pickled cucumber and wasabi steamed bun. It was an intriguing combination of flavours and I liked the kick of wasabi.

One of my favourite dishes of the evening were these kimchi gyoza dumplings. It’s the first time I have had kimchi – a Korean fermented veg, this one made with cabbage- and it was divine. The dipping sauce that accompanied the gyozas complemented it well.

Next up came the main dishes – hubby had the korean fried chicken which had a lovely hot but sweet flavour profile. It was served with a gorgeous salad.

My main of Vietnamese mussels cooked in a spicy coconut broth served with tamarind jasmine rice stole the show! The mussels were fresh and that spicy coconut broth was absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend it.
