An essential part of any trip to SA is a safari! The Kruger National Park provides just that, from the safety of your vehicle you can see all sorts of wildlife…. mainly lots of buck….. but every so often as you meander through the park you will stumble upon giraffes grazing on tree tops, elephants on their way to the nearby watering holes and perhaps even buffalo – and if you are lucky – maybe even lions! I have not been fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of any of the big cats but let’s hope that my luck changes when I go there again in April!

Besides the Kruger National Park, you are spoilt for choice for vantage points to take in the magnificent views of the region. There is the aptly named God’s window and also Blyde’s River Canyon and Bourke’s Luck Potholes to name a few. There are beautiful waterfalls and breathtaking panoramas.

We also visited the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre where we got the rare opportunity to get up close with cheetahs and rhinos and other endangered animals and birds. It really was an interesting and rewarding day out.
