La Vie En Rose is a well known restaurant, famous for its breakfasts and for hosting functions such as bridal and baby showers… or so I heard! I was eager to pay them a visit.

We decided to try out their dinner menu and had a selection of starters, mains and desserts. I liked that they are not located in a run of the mill shopping mall/centre and that we we able to park our car inside their parking area and not on the road blocks away!

It was a freezing winter’s night but we were warmly welcomed by the staff onto their covered patio. Chilled music playing in the background, I wrapped my legs in a bright pink blankie and settled in to what proved to be a great evening!

For started we chose the fried veggie springrolls and the brown mushrooms topped with garlicky spinach and camembert. The mushroom, spinach and camembert combination was perfectly seasoned and flavoured. The springrolls were fried but not at all oily.

We could not wait for the mains to arrive. I picked the chicken livers in a napolitana sauce, husband beef medallions and roasted baby potatoes. We share most dishes, but unfortunately for religious reasons I don’t eat beef so I can’t tell you what it tasted like, only that he said it was good! The chicken livers pasta was a hearty, wholesome dish  –  perfect for a cold winter’s evening. It had a rich napolitana sauce but I am more of an arrabiata kind of gal, but thankfully they provided some fresh chilli so I really enjoyed it!

We were stuffed by this time, but, as usual, we had to indulge in desserts! It was hard to choose but the peanut butter cookie dough icecream that is served with the peanut butter and banana dessert waffle sold me! Husband had the deep fried oreos with milk and trio of icecream. The waffle was decadent but a tad too heavy after the carbo-loaded meal I had just polished off.

Verdict: DELICIOUS! I will definitely return for breakfast – especially because they do tea-pairings with their breakfast menu!
